Celebrate POETS Day – Across the Globe!

While POETS Day by Mark Brookes will begin earning money for charity on 31st August at the Compass Theatre in Ickenham – UNESCO also has a Poets Day of its own. This international celebration of the written and spoken word started in 1999 and will be celebrated on Monday 21st March 2016.

UNESCO’s intentions are made very clear when it says that this dedicated day has been set aside to “Give fresh recognition and impetus to national, regional and international poetry movements”.

Mark is a professional builder and only discovered a talent for writing when he tried it. We encourage everyone to find out if they are a poet and do not know it, by finding a quiet 5 minutes today, picking up a pen and writing down some thoughts. You never know what will appear – maybe you’re the next Shakespeare!

Here’s a quick video of Mark doing his bit, complete with Victorian garb and wit.
